Hypnotherapy Helps With

What is clinical hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a very old therapy and has been used for hundreds of years. It has developed and improved alongside the neuroscience and our growing understanding of the brain,  our emotions, and behaviours.  Clinical hypnotherapy uses advanced methods of hypnosis, deep relaxation and visualisation to help people:Therapist Near Me

  • alleviate medical or psychological problems where strong emotions are a factor
  • to make positive changes to their lifestyle and behaviours
  • adopt a more positive outlook and perspective

Hypnotherapy recognises the power of your mind and helps you use your mind and imagination to make the changes you want to make. It is respectful and empowering and sees you as a resourceful, fascinating and capable person.

What can hypnotherapy help with?

At its core, hypnotherapy can help you mange strong emotions and change the way you choose to see, feel and do things.

Hypnotherapy recognises what science, religious faiths and common sense have told us for a very long time i.e that our mind, body and emotions are deeply connected.

In my practice I have helped people with a wide range of issues where strong emotions are present. This includes anxiety, negative thinking, sleep problems, depression, managing thoughts and emotions from past traumatic experiences, fears and phobias, confidence, habit and lifestyle change, symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome, attitudes to food, weight loss and self-image.

The type of hypnotherapy we provide is respectful, non-judgemental and forward looking.

What does hypnotherapy involve?

Hypnotherapy involves 5 key stages. It is provided with care and consideration and only proceeds with your consent. The therapy sessions themselves follow a standard process that is tailored to you and your goals.

The sessions are usually 1 hour long and involve about 25 minutes of talking therapy and 25 minutes of hypnosis.

Hypnosis is a a deeply calm, sleep-like state, in which a person can set aside the stresses and strains of life, get back in touch with who they really are, how they want to be and what is best for them to do. After hypnosis people tend to feel relaxed and more confident and connected.

We provide solution-focused hypnotherapy. This form of therapy doesn’t focus on problems. It helps you resolve issues by looking ahead, imagining how you want life to be and identifying the steps you can take towards this.

Hypnotherapy is available from three locations in South Somerset and online. Appoitments are available in the day, evenings and weekends. Home visits are also available on request.

Yes, hypnotherapy is safe, professional and bound by modern professional standards. There are some myths and misconceptions about hypnotherapy which are untrue and do not relate to today’s professional practice.

Hypnotherapy is relatively short term and people usually feel the effects from the first session onwards. On average people come for between 4 and 10 sessions although some people need fewer, and some people need more than this.

In my experience, most people experience a benefit from hypnotherapy and some people make very significant changes, changes they never thought were possible. I can say this with confidence because we measure outcomes, record the progress people make and ask people to share testimonies. The success of therapy is determined by what you do and what happens in the sessions.
